Horse Camps (ages 5+)

TUF offers half and full day camps geared to various ages and levels, to ensure that each camper has their best summer yet!

Camps are based on riding level and length of day. Continue reading to find the camp that is right for you, some camps may require pre-requisite.

Half-Day Day Horse Camp (9:00 am - 12:00 Pm):

Very Young Riders (Ages 5-7, No experience necessary):

Designed for the youngest horse lover in mind, this camp focuses on beginning horsemanship and will learn to groom as well as walk, maneuver, and halt. Education focuses on colors, breeds, reading horse language, parts of the horse, saddle/bridle - all in English tack

  • Caters to the young children who want to learn how to ride

  • Teaches safety around horses and how to properly handle them

  • Teaches basic balance with starting off no saddles

  • Gets young kids comfortable with sitting on a horses back 

  • Teaches steering and maneuvering at the walk

  •  Begins to introduce the trot

  • Format is taught with 1/2the time being horse handling and mounted and 1/2the time in an educational class

Full Day Horse Camps (9:00 am - 3:00pm):

Pony Pals (Ages 8+, Beginner, No experience necessary):

For new horse lovers! Focuses on horse care and basic riding skills. Learn to halter, groom, tack with help as well as walk, maneuver, and halt. Education focuses on colors, breeds, basic care, reading horse language, parts of the horse, saddle/bridle - all in English tack

  • No Prerequisite- can come in with no experience

  • Learn basic horse knowledge and riding skills

  • Participate in daily equine chores

  • Learn about feed and horse nutrition

  • Will learn how to walk, steer and trot assisted

  • Crafts each day that relate to the horse topic being taught 

  • Format is taught with ½ the time being horse handling and mounted and ½ the time in an educational class & themed activities

Pony Club (Ages 8+, Beginner w/ previous experience):

For horse lovers! Focuses on horse care and basic riding skills. Learn to halter, groom, tack with help as well as walk, maneuver, and halt with introducing trot. Education focuses on breeds, nutrition and care, parts of the horse, saddle/bridle - all in English tack

  • Prerequisite- has taken a horse class (not one time) or camp before.

  • Expand on horse knowledge and riding skills

  • Will advance in walking, steering and trot assisted

  • Participate in daily equine chores

  • Learn about feed and horse nutrition

  • Crafts each day that relate to the horse topic being taught 

  • Format is taught with ½ the time being horse handling and mounted and ½ the time in an educational class & themed activities

TUF Trotters (Ages 8+, Novice w/ significant experience):

Riding expanded to trot and riding control, with education expanded to include anatomy and general tack. This camp is designed for the more experienced rider, prior experience and instructor approval and/or assessment is necessary.

  • Prerequisite: Rider has been in two B1 and/or B2 half-day camps in 2021 OR took B1 Full Day Camp in 2022 OR have been in a TUF B1 class in 2021 and/ or 2022.

  • Learn posting trot 

  • How to maneuver your horse independently at the sitting trot

  • Practice being able to tack up primarily on your own

  • Participate in daily equine chores

  • Different riding disciplines

  • Learn about feed and horse nutrition

  • Crafts each day that relate to the horse topic being taught 

  • Format is taught with ½ the time being horse handling and mounted and ½ the time in an educational class
